Adams is currently looking for organic safflower growers to satisfy an ever growing demand for the crop.
Organic Safflower is crushed for its oil which is used in the food industry for cooking and salad dressings, safflower meal is a bi product which is used in the organic stock feed market, primarily for chickens and dairy.
Adams Australia markets two types of safflower – High Oleic (mono-unsaturated) and Linoleic (poly-unsaturated). There is a higher demand for high oleic varieties.
Adams Australia has its own safflower variety for which we have exclusive rights, known as CW-99OL. CW-99OL is covered under PBR# 2796 and is a proven variety from the USA.
Safflower seed is used for domestic crushing and export market.
Organic sunflower also has two varieties which Adams Australia markets - High Oleic (mono-unsaturated) and Linoleic (poly-unsaturated).
The higher demand lies with high oleic (mono-unsaturated) sunflower seed and Adams Australia is keen to develop some core growers to produce organic oleic sunflowers. High oleic sunseed is primarily bound for the domestic crushing market then onto export.
Adams also has a requirement for around 100mt per year for organic Linoleic (poly-unsaturated) sunflower seed. Linoleic sunseed is used largely for domestic crushing and kernel market.
There is strong demand for organic canola oil and seed. Adams Australia is keen to talk with any farmers interested in growing organic canola.
As part of our day to day activities in marketing organic vegetable oils and protein meals to end users we are constantly questioned about supplying other forms of organic produce. If we do not handle the crop ourselves we maybe able to put you in contact with a prospective buyer within our network. Other Organic crops include: soybeans, linseed, lupins, wheat, barley etc..
