High Oleic (mono-unsaturated) sunflower is coveted for its superior frying qualities. The high oleic content in the sunflower seed has high smoking points and low and its slower oxidization rate is purported to increase shelf life of snack foods. The oil contained in the sunflower seed also has valued health benefits and is much lower in saturated fat than other crops grown for commercial cooking purposes.
Adams Australia requires up to 8,000mt of High Oleic Sunflower seed a year. We contract direct with farmers and through selected country merchants.
Linoleic sunflower is second only to safflower in its linoleic content. Linoleic acids are important for the health of the body and are reported to have probable cholesterol reducing qualities.
Linoleic sunflower crops are used for oil production for which is primarily used in margarine and bottled cooking oil products.
Adams Australia requires around 3,000mt each year and as with the Oleic type we contract direct with farmers or through selected country merchants.
The world has an increasing demand for high oleic oils. The oleic acid is a mono-unsaturated acid which gives the oil good health properties, combined with high stability at high temperatures the oil extensively by the food service industries for it frying properties.
CW 99OL – Adams Australia has exclusive rights to the Oleic Safflower variety CW 99-OL which has been imported from the USA. PBR No:2796.
The market for linoleic safflower is more limited than for the oleic type in Australia and falls mainly into the pet food and birdseed market. This type of safflower has up to 75% linoleic acid the highest of the popular vegetable oilseed crops.
Adams Australia also has its own safflower variety for which we have exclusive rights to, known as CW-2889. CW-2889 is patented under PBR#2796 and is a proven variety from the USA.
Safflower seed is used for domestic crushing and for birdseed in the domestic and export market.
Adams Australia is involved in the marketing of canola oil and meal and can assist growers in their marketing strategies and delivery options
